The FIFA games are some of the most engaging and genre-defining sports titles to have ever made and still remains some of the fondest memories for many older gamers but after the highly successful FIFA 23 which was de-listed by EA after it became only a year old, news regarding the decade old franchise have been pretty scarce. But it seems the age-old sports franchise is looking to make a grand comeback with the newly announced FIFA Heroes, a game that not just lets you play as some of football’s greatest players but also with mythical beings with superpowers.
“The last thing we wanted to create was another football simulation game,” stated Kyle Joyce, director of publishers Solace. “We wanted to imbue FIFA Heroes with fast-paced gameplay that will appeal to a whole new generation of players. We’re able to deliver a football experience that resonates with fans everywhere. We can’t wait to share what’s next.”
A trailer has also been recently unveiled which showcases legendary football players like Maradona, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane and more along with mythical figures such as Zeus, Thor, Sun Wukong among others. Check it out:
The upcoming game will feature an interesting mix of the usual football gameplay that we’ve seen from the earlier FIFA series of titles coupled with cool superpowers that can result in a whole new flavor of sports. It’s a promising concept that, at least on paper, holds a lot of potential and can be a sort of genre-blending experience like Rocket League with incredible replay value.
“This is arcade football reimagined with matches that are quick, explosive and full of surprises. Players will be able to master superpowers to turn matches upside down. Build your squad, master their skills, and dominate the competition in a brand-new way to play the world’s favourite sport,” reads the game’s official press release.
FIFA Heroes is a 5-v-5 arcade football title with heavy emphasis on fast-paced football combined with exotic powers like teleportation, AOE lightning based abilities and more. The free-to-play game features a diverse roster including iconic pro athletes, World Cup Mascots and mythological figures all in a never before seen experience.
The arcade title is slated to launch on April 28 for mobile and PC, shortly followed by console releases.
