When Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 originally came out, people praised both games. Street Fighter 6 had tons of single player content for casual fans, and online fans loved the game’s competitiveness. The same thing was true for the release of Tekken 8 just months later.
However, we are here in March 2026, and something terribly wrong has happened to both games. Let’s first start off with Street Fighter 6 and the return of Alex. Alex was first introduced in Street Fighter 3 nearly 30 years ago, and he has always been an underrated favorite amongst hardcore fans.
People were excited when Alex was announced as DLC for Street Fighter 6. But things started to sour when fans played the arcade mode of the game and unlocked Alex’s ending. It all stems from his intimate relationship with a character named Patricia.
Originally, Patricia was presented as sister-like figure to Alex. However, in Street Fighter 6, they are lovers and have a baby together. Not only that, but it is revealed in the game’s ending that they are real-life second cousins.
Incest is seen as taboo in most cultures and a lot of gamers feel uncomfortable seeing this ending. A lot of people just feel confused and uncomfortable about the whole thing!
As for Tekken 8, this all stems from the latest Season 3 update for the game. Many players feel the update ruined the balance of the game as it favors the offensive style more than a defensive one.
A lot of people were hoping the game would feel more balanced as the developers had promised sweeping changes to improve Tekken 8. Alas, players’ voices are not being heard and a ton of players are choosing to not play the current update until another patch is released to improve on the game.
Whether or not a new patch addresses the controversies in Tekken 8 remains to be seen. Bandai Namco will have to try something before EVO or any other tournaments arrive or else players will be more angry.
Anyway, which one of these two controversies annoy you the most?
