The upcoming Crimson Desert looks to be one of the most technically ambitious videogames in the current era of gaming, however, one of the things that has continued to worry many players is the overall experience they can get on the consoles as almost all of the gameplay footage released so far seems to be only from high-end PCs. But thankfully, it all changes from today as the first Playstation 5 Gameplay footage of Crimson Desert has now been revealed (courtesy of the official PlayStation Japan YouTube channel) and you can finally get a real good indication of how the open world title is going to look and run on the consoles.
So check out over 20 minutes of Crimson Desert running on the base PS5:
One of the first things you’ll notice is the comments being turned off which will prevent you from knowing how the other players are feeling about the overall quality of Crimson Desert running on the console, but it’s actually the default action for all PlayStation Japan YouTube videos and not something deliberately done for the upcoming title, which is reassuring. Cause if you’ve watched the earlier gameplay videos of Crimson Desert, you’ll quickly notice that there’s actually quite a bit of downgrade from the visual fidelity levels we’ve seen on the PC version which is perfectly acceptable when you consider how massively demanding the game is on a technical level.
But the overall visuals still look well enough, although the framerate seem to be closer to 30 FPS than a silky smooth 60 which also means it’s running on the console’s Quality mode. But if that’s the case, it also implies that the high-frame-rate, Performance mode will look noticeably worse which would be the preferred mode for a lot of players cause of the higher FPS and smoother gameplay.
We also see a bit of both combat and exploration in the above gameplay video and it all looks pretty engaging and immersive, so check out the full gameplay and share your thoughts in the comments.
Crimson Desert is scheduled to release on March 19 and the PC version of the game has already reached a staggering three million wishlists on Steam.
