The upcoming Crimson Desert seems to be one of the most ambitious open world titles to have come out in recent years and the game’s launch trailer also highlights all of it’s biggest draws that include fast and responsive combat, a gigantic and seamless open world, unique platforming and more. Check out the launch trailer for Crimson Desert below:

The launch trailer for Crimson Desert opens with some narrative beats, setting up the main conflict in the game’s story which is between two battling factions named the Greymanes and the Black Bears. Then it quickly moves on to the game’s meaty combat which looks to utilize both tight melee action and magical abilities and ensures a unique blend of combat rarely seen in gaming. The movements also seem fluid and agile, which would make way for great transitions during different gameplay sections and the boss battles look absolutely epic and seem to feature couple of elements from the Soulslike genre of games.

However, the most promising part of the trailer was the platforming and the overall traversal in the game’s enormous open world–at multiple points we also see the protagonist riding atop huge dragons and solving puzzles that take place mostly in mid-air. Overall, based on everything that’s been shown from the game so far, the main U.S.P of Crimson Desert definitely seems to be it’s traversal–it feels epic and unlike anything else we’ve seen in the current generation of gaming.

However, the story elements seem to be a bit on the lighter side and while it’s impossible to judge the whole narrative experience only from a trailer, but perhaps you shouldn’t expect The Witcher 3 level of storytelling and character development from Crimson Desert after all.

Crimson Desert’s official PC system requirements have been revealed couple days ago so check out what you’ll need to run the game at both minimum and recommended quality settings. And if you’re on the consoles, developer Pearl Abyss has also released a wide range of performance benchmarks and resolutions for both Playstation and Xbox systems.

Crimson Desert is scheduled to release on March 19 and the PC version of the game has already reached a staggering three million wishlists on Steam.
