Even though The Blood of Dawnwalker has received highly favorable reviews across different outlets and websites, the same cannot be said regarding the PC port of the open world vampire fantasy action game as it’s evidently riddled with lots of technical woes and performance issues. Players have written about many of those problems on Reddit and Steam forums, and now developer Rebel Wolves has come up with a set of workarounds for some of the known issues in the game which include stuttering while in widowed/borderless window mode, sprint issues, PlayStation controller mapping and the game crashing during shader compilation.
And here’s the list of tweaks and adjustments, as the devs wrote in their official Twitter/X page:
“Known Issues – fixes & workarounds (03/09/2026)
🔸 Game stuttering when in Windowed / Borderless mode – please try launching the game in Full Screen
🔸 Game crashing on compiling shaders – please update your BIOS, that should fix it radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm
🔸 Missing option of mapping buttons on a PS5 gamepad – we’re already working on it
🔸 Sprinting stops when changing directions on a gamepad – we’re working on a fix, but in the meantime you can try changing the sensitivity of your controller from 1 to 0.8 (in the console settings)”
The developers have also provided a link for updating your BIOS on Intel Core CPUs, for an issue in both 13th and 14th generation processors which results in general system instability and other types of technical problems in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
As for the sprinting issues that occur while playing on a controller, the devs have confirmed they’re working on a fix to resolve it permanently.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by some of the former devs behind The Witcher series and came out on September 3rd this year for both PC and consoles. And even though it would likely take several patches to iron out all the issues, you may also want to check out the system requirements for the game to get a rough estimation of how it could run on your system.
