Ubisoft has delayed Rayman Legends Retold, moving the platformer’s release date from October 1 to December 3, 2026. The decision comes just weeks before its scheduled launch, surprising fans given that the title has already achieved gold status. Despite reaching the major development milestone that traditionally signals readiness for mass production, the publisher has chosen to hold the game back to refine final details.
Co-developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, Rayman Legends Retold builds upon the celebrated 2013 original rather than offering a simple visual upgrade. The project introduces overhauled 3D environments, fully voiced cinematic sequences, an entirely new narrative arc, and a previously unseen sixth realm. Players can also expect additional musical levels, new dragon-riding mechanics, and four-player local cooperative play, alongside a remastered inclusion of Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.
While post-gold delays remain uncommon in the games industry, the extra time allows the development teams to focus on day-one stability, performance optimization, and bug fixes. Ubisoft has not cited specific technical issues for the shift, choosing instead to emphasize quality assurance. A full gameplay overview trailer and hands-on press impressions are scheduled for release on September 22, offering a closer look at the project’s current state ahead of its revised launch window.
Strategically, the two-month shift removes the title from a crowded October release window that includes high-profile competitors like Gears of War: E-Day, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall. Moving into early December gives the platformer a clearer path during the key holiday shopping season, while providing Ubisoft’s late-2026 lineup additional breathing room.
