Quake Champions just got better thanks to the fact this is a game you buy now. There is no more free to play traps anywhere, not to mention that this might actually let you preserve the game forever. If there is someone who is savvy in setting up servers for PC games, then this game can be preserved forever, because the player base will return no matter if it is an official server or not. I can still see people to this day, playing the very same old port of Halo Combat Evolved on PC, which is a thing that surprises me because good games never die.
Quake Champions has changed
And I feel like it has changed for the better, we might see what plans and things are coming for it, although, I believe that since id Software got eliminated by the Microsoft cuts we might not see much. Still, the fact that the original Quake got an update after 30 years means that anything can happen in the future, provided gaming is still alive. I don’t know how long it will take for us to reach that place, but it really feels like everything is falling apart in gaming right now.
Quake Champions used to be great, and still sort of is now that they removed all the weird freemium and live service things out of the way. Making it a one time payment should have been the default move from the start, alas people don’t seem to care that much about it. Xbox and Microsoft are really fumbling the bag with decisions lately, and sometimes it makes you wonder if they should even be allowed to exist as companies anymore. Sadly, it seems that as long as we don’t punish their pockets they will never stop bleeding us out of cash.
