The official Launch trailer for Wolverine was released in Yesterday’s State of Play event from Sony which showcases lots of narrative beats alongside epic combat sections, indicating that Insomniac’s upcoming action adventure title will offer a rollicking good time for all players, and then some. The new trailer reveals several characters who’s likely to play major roles in Wolverine such as Sabretooth, Jean Grey, Omega Red, Boliver Trask, Mystique and also hints at some of their motives and story threads related to Wolverine in the game. The trailer also makes it pretty clear that the upcoming title will feature a fresh and unique interpretation of the character which is a bit different from all other incarnations of Wolverine that we’ve seen in other mediums, yet still having all of Logan’s defining character traits in place. This also makes for a new and interesting take on the popular character, and has the potential to be equally effective as the Spider-Man titles from Insomniac.
And perhaps the most memorable part of the new trailer is the combat sections which showcase new takedown moves (with Sabretooth), several really cool and spectacular set-pieces involving the massive Sentinels and one that looks to be taking place on an airplane. Overall, the new trailer makes it clear that Wolverine can easily turn out to be one of the most exciting action experiences of this year, and maybe even more than the Spider-Man games.
Marvel’s Wolverine comes out in two different editions–the Standard version of the game will cost you $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version sports a price tag of $79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that.
