Electronic Arts is pulling the plug on online support for GRID Legends on September 11, ending multiplayer functionality across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms just four years after its initial launch.
Developed by Codemasters and released in early 2022, the racing title is the latest casualty in EA’s ongoing routine of decommissioning older live-service servers. While multiplayer lobbies and cross-platform online races will cease on standard consoles and PC, the game’s offline single-player modes will remain fully playable, allowing career progress and solo races to continue uninterrupted.
Interestingly, online functionality for alternative releases—including the Nintendo Switch 2, mobile, and VR ports—will stay active for the immediate future. This leaves dedicated fans on main platforms with a limited window to clear remaining online achievements, complete multiplayer objectives, or host public lobbies before the primary network infrastructure goes dark.
With no new entry in the long-running GRID series currently announced and Codemasters primarily focusing on recent F1 releases, this shutdown marks a significant shift for the franchise’s community. Players hoping to experience standard multiplayer competition should log in before the mid-September deadline.
