Remedy is projecting their upcoming Control Resonant as one of their most ambitious titles ever, and has described the third person action game as a must-have day one purchase during a recent earnings call. As evident from their latest financial results, Remedy is seeing a decline in profit, revenue and cash flow although 2023’s Alan Wake 2 has passed a total of 3 million sold units so far.
In the company’s earnings report, Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon has said that they’re looking to build the Control series into a lasting franchise which means they clearly have lots of plans for the in-game Universe, beside mentioning the upcoming title’s uniqueness and production value, which are clearly outstanding, as showcased by the most recent gameplay video.
“We position Control Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building Control into a lasting franchise,” Gaudechon said. “In a competitive autumn window, we believe the distinctiveness and quality of the game will make it stand out. Control Resonant will be available across all major platforms from day one and is priced attractively for an AAA title. Combined with the release window becoming slightly less crowded since our original reveal, we remain confident in our positioning.”
He also shared insights on the future of both Alan Wake and Control series of games:
“We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe,” Gaudechon continued: “Remedy will self-publish upcoming games, in which Remedy owns the IP. Growing and expanding the two franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne, originally created by Remedy.”
Control Resonant lets you play as Dylan Faden and take on a wide range of paranormal foes in a trippy, anti-gravity environment where you get to control a shapeshifting weapon titled ‘The Aberrant’. You’ll also be able to upgrade the weapon and unlock more forms and supernatural abilities that will provide a dynamic tool of exciting combat system which looks and feels pretty great and has the potential to be one of the most memorable videogame experiences this year. The platforming with the ability to realign entire buildings and large structures looks equally promising and compliments the action well enough.
Control Resonant is set to release on September 24, 2026 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows and macOS.
