While Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine is only a few months away, it seems their next title is exactly what many of us have already expected which is none other than Spider-Man 3, as a recent IMDB listing for the third entry in the acclaimed third person action adventure series has surfaced online. First spotted by user SpiderManCD on X/Twitter, the IMDB page also reveals several details for the upcoming game, although much of it is well familiar by most players such as Spider-Man 3 is set to have Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith as it’s directors and the duo were at the helm of the previous game as well, along with Yuri Lowenthal reprising his role as Peter Parker.
But perhaps the most intriguing detail is the “In Production” writing on the right side of the page which means the game has just entered the production phase in it’s development or has finished the pre-production phase. Although we may have to wait for the official Insomniac announcement to find out more about Spider-Man 3’s development status, however, the listing does indicate that it’s right next in their pipeline of games which makes perfect sense.
It was earlier leaked that after this year’s Wolverine, there will be a Venom game from Insomniac which will be followed by Spider-Man 3, then a new Ratchet and Clank game and lastly an X-Men game. But based on the IMDB page, it seems there may not be a Venom game at all and we’ll get Spider-Man 3 instead. And although it’s great news for everyone who has played both Spider-Man titles, the announcement of Spider-Man 3 may also be quite disheartening for players on the PC platform as it’ll likely be exclusive to the Playstation 5 like Wolverine.
In other news of Spider-Man titles, the overwhelming box-office success of Brand New Day has resulted in a huge spike in sales for Spider-Man 2 as according to Alinea Analytics, it has sold a whopping 316,000 copies since Brand New Day had launched, generating $11 million more in terms of revenue across PlayStation 5 and Steam in less than two weeks.
