GTA 6 Could See Yet Another Delay, According to Former Rockstar Developer

The most anticipated videogame of all time, Rockstar’s GTA 6 is well expected to make and break all kinds of records when it comes out this November and based on what’s possibly the strongest pre-order campaign in history, the open world behemoth could make a colossal $5 billion just in it’s first week. But the game could also see yet another delay causing it to release in next year, according to former Rockstar animator Mike York as he said in a recent interview with Indy100 that he wouldn’t be shocked if that actually happens.

Of course, another delay is highly unlikely as it would have ramifications across the industry in more ways than one, but of course, if any game can get away with it, it’s GTA 6 as after waiting this long for the game to arrive, players wouldn’t really mind waiting for just a little bit longer. In the interview, Mike said that he believes another delay wouldn’t hurt the game or the company at all:

“Personally after being there and working on GTA 5, I don’t currently work there so I can’t give a confidence based off that, but based on my previous experience, they could delay it again,” York said.

“Straight up, they could delay it again. They can.

They can do whatever they want and people will wait right now, it doesn’t matter. If they need to do what they need to do, they’ll do it.

So if November comes around and they’re thinking ‘this final mission we have is still not looking very good and there are still a few bugs in this final mission’, they’ll push it six more months if they have to.

“I would not be shocked at all. I don’t think it would hurt them or anything.”

The Standard edition of GTA 6 will cost $80 while the Ultimate edition comes with a price tag of $100 which also includes a whole array of unlockables ranging from bonus story missions to in-game items, equipment and additional customization. And while the prices are certainly steep for a videogame but when you consider the colossal production value of GTA 6, they do start to feel pretty reasonable.

GTA 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
