Rockstar has finally opened the lid just a little bit on GTA 6 and all the news are currently flooding in and one of them is that the upcoming open world behemoth may lack any and all multiplayer components entirely as it’s been described as a ‘single player experience’. On the official Playstation website, among a series of FAQ covering a range of aspects on GTA 6, a particular question regarding any presence of an online component has been answered with the following line:
“Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.”
And while this doesn’t completely rule out any kind of multiplayer online experience for the most anticipated videogame of all time, the current silence from Rockstar indicates that similar to GTA Online, a multiplayer component may be added at a later time into GTA 6 and will be a separate experience but still based on vice city in the same vein as it’s predecessor. Also, we haven’t really heard anything on the multiplayer side of GTA 6 which kind of puts a doubt on it’s existence, although things could change in the coming months as Rockstar starts to reveal even more details on the game.
Although it does make sense for GTA 6 to not have an online component at least for now, as Rockstar’s own GTA Online still has some life left in it with a brand new heist coming to the multiplayer mode next month, and for the first time in six years.
In other news of Grand Theft Auto 6, the upcoming open world juggernaut won’t have any kind of early access incentives across all platforms, which means regardless of whether you get the $80 Standard edition or shell out the extra cash for the pricier, $100 Ultimate edition, the game will be loading on the same date for you as well as everyone else.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
