The most awaited and anticipated videogame of all time, Rockstar Games’ open world behemoth GTA 6 is set for a November 19 release this year, and although there are chances of yet another delay like it has already happened several times, there’s also a quietly growing possibility of no more delays as in a recent interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has re-affirmed the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Talking to David Senra, the CEO has confidently stated that according to the best of his knowledge, GTA 6 will come out on the currently scheduled date and when asked how many times the release has been pushed back, he stated the following:
“I think we’re about 18 months behind the original date. Not much more than that.”
Zelnick also said that he believes the GTA franchise is definitely among the most beloved and sought after entertainment IP ever created.
“I think so, but it depends on how you count. I think if you counted every Mario Kart, Call of Duty, and a bunch of others, it’s not entirely clear. But I think in terms of the value of the IP, most people believe it is the most valuable entertainment IP ever created,” said Zelnick.
He also spoke on the sheer longevity and replay value of GTA 5, which is another monster of a videogame that still manages to climb the charts and generate revenue for the publisher:
“The reason people keep playing is because it’s constantly updated and it’s really great. And the most recent content pack was awesome. You can actually talk and connect and play together, and yeah, it’s amazing that people don’t realize that you know online games are highly social experiences.”
And while it doesn’t seem like there would be another delay, the marketing of GTA 6 is also expected to kick off this summer which is sure to include a third trailer and more gameplay footage for the upcoming title.
GTA 6 is slated to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
