Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece according to many, as a matter of fact it just got a new record, becoming the 3rd most sold video game in the history of all the medium. The numbers might be skewed, but its wild if this is true considering how hard it has been to dethrone kings like Tetris and other games that keep being relevant even today. It speaks about how great the game is that many people, even outside the gaming sphere, know about it and are fans of it. Similar to the Grand Theft Auto series, Red Dead Redemption has captured a loyal fan base across the years.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is huge
Not many games end up hitting records like this, and its amazing to see yet another one do it, attempting to beat Minecraft is no easy task, and not even Red Dead Redemption 2 is close to the sales volume of that game. By comparison, it seems that Red Dead Redemption 2 only sold a total of 85 million copies, which is brutal, but when you look at Minecraft sales it literally feels like nothing. However, that’s comparing a game where you can do anything versus one about cowboys and a huge open world.
Minecraft sold like 350 million copies, and even Grand Theft Auto 5 which is currently sitting in second place has sold 255 million copies, which is around 100 million copies of difference compared to the popular Rockstar series. Compared to Grand Theft Auto, I feel like Red Dead Redemption 2 was always kinda underrated, and it feels like the kind of game that needs more love. If more people want to play an amazing story, I can genuinely recommend to give this series a spin, there’s tons of good moments and memorable characters.
