Songwriter Bobby Keel Leaks New Country Track for Grand Theft Auto 6

The long-running veil of secrecy surrounding Rockstar Games’ next flagship title has slipped once again, this time via an unexpected source in the music industry. Veteran songwriter Bobby Keel recently took to social media to announce that “Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior,” a 1987 country hit he co-wrote for David Allan Coe, will be featured in Grand Theft Auto 6. While Rockstar has not officially confirmed the tracklist, Keel’s public disclosure serves as a rare primary-source leak regarding the game’s licensed audio.

Keel, who penned the song alongside Larry Latimer, expressed significant enthusiasm for the placement, describing the inclusion in the upcoming open-world epic as a major career milestone. This development follows a similar pattern seen earlier this year, where other musical artists appeared to inadvertently break non-disclosure agreements by hinting at their involvement with the project. Given that the Grand Theft Auto franchise is renowned for its curated radio stations, the inclusion of a classic country track suggests Rockstar is doubling down on the cultural atmosphere of its new fictional setting.

The track itself fits the expected vibe of Leonida, Rockstar’s reimagining of Florida. While the neon-soaked streets of Vice City often lean toward synth-pop and club hits, the rural stretches of the state provide the perfect backdrop for Coe’s outlaw country sound. It remains unclear if the song will be a staple of the in-game radio or tied to a specific narrative beat, but its themes of “bad behavior” align perfectly with the series’ focus on criminal escapades and social satire.

This leak arrives as Rockstar Games enters the final stretch of development, with a firm release date now set for November 19, 2026. Despite the developer’s usual preference for controlled marketing rollouts, the scale of a production like GTA 6 makes it increasingly difficult to prevent contributors from sharing their excitement. As the industry prepares for what is expected to be the largest launch in gaming history, fans can likely expect more of these small, atmospheric details to surface through the summer.
