Stellar Blade was an action adventure title from 2024 that did exceptionally well across both consoles and PC and went on to become the best-selling PlayStation exclusive on PC, surpassing other AAA heavyweights such as Marvel’s Spider-Man (both 1 and 2), God of War, Ghost of Tshushima and more. Stellar Blade’s staggering player counts on the PC also officially cemented the game as the highest selling Playstation port ever, which is a mighty impressive feat especially considering the games it outperformed and how little hype it had compared to the others.
And now, developer Shift Up has revealed that although the sequel to Stellar Blade is already in development, there won’t be any official reveal till the game is “finished in a good shape”. In a recent interview with 4Gamer (translated by TheGamer), Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-tae opened up about the making of Stellar Blade 2, stating that the game is being “done slowly and carefully, there are always times when it looks like nothing is happening from the outside.”
“Our team is currently working very passionately on the production, and we would like to present it once it has reached a satisfactory quality. Rather than sharing it prematurely, we believe it is best to inform everyone once everything is fully prepared”, which is an admirable approach.
Further into the interview, the CEO hinted that Stellar Blade 2 is coming pretty close to being in “good shape” as he mentioned earlier:
“If I say that, it will be a big spoiler, so how about something like, ‘The time has come when you can have a little bit of expectation’?” he said.
The Stellar Blade developer is also currently taking steps in order to self-publish their future projects in an effort to “support internally developed titles across console and PC platforms.”
Shift Up has also hinted that Stellar Blade may arrive on the Xbox systems as well as on the Nintendo Switch 2 console in the near future.
