RockStar is taking quite a while to make the new Grand Theft Auto, and it has caused many issues amongst the community. Currently, a data breach just happened, orchestrated by the prolific ShinyHunters team, and this is in no way related to the previous incident of social engineering RockStar suffered at the hands of a young one. Apparently, the team behind this cyber attack is planning to leak all the information they have gathered unless RockStar decides to pay a hefty sum to keep their mouths shut. Whatever happens, we will see how it plays out.
RockStar stumbles again
Hacking is very common nowadays, especially against big corporations who don’t know how to secure their data properly. Sometimes it even takes a clueless and tired employee to leak their account credentials accidentally, causing issues for everyone else on the team. In this case, it feels like the hacking was more elaborate and it might have involved some reverse engineering. Considering the team is in the position to ransom data, it must genuinely be a severe attack despite RockStar downplaying it. While player data does not seem to be affected by this, I would change passwords of my account as soon as possible.
Whatever it is, we can only remain calm and see what even goes on, and if the company will end up putting a bounty on the heads of this prolific hacker team for all the actions they have committed against them. If there’s a company that does not take these things lightly aside from Nintendo, its definitely RockStar games, they will do their best to track the perpetrator and punish them with the law even if they are in another country. It is crazy how much power these companies have but when we decide to pay no mind to the massive accumulation of wealth these are the things that tend to happen.
