Blizzard does the thing, and it seems that Turtle WoW as a server will cease to exist soon, this is terrible for fans who wanted to play the huge MMO for free but what can one do. If the team behind that private server remained shut and didn’t ask for money, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened cause they wouldn’t be on the radar of Blizzard Entertainment. Sadly, good things have to end, and I’m very sure this will end in a resounding victory for the corporate giant instead of the small underdog, that while they have accepted donations in the past, has simply removed the ability to do so.
Blizzard wins against Turtle WoW
To the surprise of no one really, this was something that would happen, but there could be a sliver of chance for the “illegal” private server. I believe that there should be some talk between both parties to see if they can reach a better agreement. I don’t agree with the fact that the owners of this private server could get money out of this, since it isn’t their own property and it violates the copyrights of Blizzard. Yet, Blizzard is a company known to actually abuse its player base, especially with its big debacle when a remaster for Warcraft came out, saying that you shouldn’t own the mods you make.
Both are in the wrong, and I don’t celebrate this at all, especially since I pretty much prefer playing on Turtle WoW rather than on the official servers thanks to the way things are implemented. Yet Blizzard has the right to defend themselves, however, that does not mean that they should go trampling on people after this, but we all know they will go and do their usual abusive monetization tactics in Diablo and other projects.
