We finally have a concrete release date for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced which is the modernized remake of the classic Assassin’s Creed title that came out back in 2013. And according to Insider Gaming, the remake will be released on July 9, 2026 and despite having plans to officially unveil the title yesterday, Ubisoft has postponed the announcement for next week while providing media and content creators a 30 minute presentation of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced instead.
Those who have seen the full length presentation have praised the visuals and have stated that the remake of Black Flag is not an RPG which means although it’ll have completely revamped gameplay including far more interaction and realism, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will still have the DNA of the 2013 title.
Several days ago, a brief synapsys of the upcoming remake was leaked (via TheRealZephryss) which stated the following:
“This title breathes new life into a fan favourite while remaining carefully faithful to the spirit of the original. It follows the story of the charismatic pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway as he adventures through the 18th-century Caribbean, with parkour in cities and battles at sea, in search of fortune and glory. Modernized in 2026, the new game includes a cast of new characters and stories.”
It was known earlier that the upcoming title will also enable players to make in-game purchases possibly in the form of DLCs which indicates the original game’s Freedom Cry campaign may also be part of the remake offering.
The upcoming Remake will also reportedly contain a significantly overhauled combat system with an emphasize on RPG mechanics and gears that lean heavily into the more modern entries of the series like the post-Assassin’s Creed Origins batch of titles. However, the Black Flag Remake is also reported to cut out the modern day segments which were present in the original game, a move that’s sure to upset many players as those missions had a significant impact on the overarching narrative of the franchise and connected the past events with the present day happenings.
