Layoffs continue to strike across the videogame industry and now it’s been confirmed that multiple key members of Warner Bros. Montreal including senior developers who were part of the studio for almost a decade have now been let go and they are currently looking for work.
According to Insider Gaming, at least three key developers in Warner Bros. Montreal are currently no longer with the studio and they are Associate narrative director Ceri Young, level designer Camille Olivier Paquette, and associate producer Nicolas Pereira-Poisson and all of them have posted on their LinkedIn accounts last Friday, to inform that their jobs have been affected by the present layoffs within the studio and further layoffs could be ahead in the near future.
Here’s what level designer Camille wrote on LinkedIn regarding his departure from Warner Bros. Montreal:
“Today was my last day at Warner Brother Games Montreal and I am now looking for an opportunity to continue my career as Level Designer in the industry. I have scripting experience in Unreal Engine (blueprint) and I prioritize player experience when I design layouts, missions and puzzles. I am always ready to tackle new challenges to learn new skills and improve myself. I love sharing my passion for video games and board games with others. Feel free to connect me with anyone looking for a passionate Level Designer.”
Warner Bros. Montreal has yet to explain the reason for the layoffs or whether any of their upcoming projects will be affected in any way as a consequence. However, it’s alarming to see these veteran developers let go by the studio which poses a serious concern for job security in the industry today for all devs, regardless of how many years they’ve been part of a company.
Last month, Warner Bros. Montreal has teased the return of some of their biggest franchises in 2027-2028 which possibly means we’d likely see another Batman: Arkham title by Rocksteady Studios, among other promising releases.
