We might be seeing a new Xbox Game Pass tier eventually and it could be drastically different from any of the tiers we’ve seen from the publisher in the past. First spotted by Twitter/X user redphx and promptly reported by Windows Central, the new game pass tier is codenamed ‘Trion’ and may only contain first party games from Microsoft which makes it a highly contrasting lineup in the popular subscription service while still bringing lots of value to many players.
And according to the recent datamine found by redphx, the list of games included in the new Game Pass tier is the following:
- DOOM Eternal
- Dishonored 2
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 4
- Fallout 76
- Gears 5
- Halo 5
- Halo Wars 2
- Hellblade
- Ori 1
- State Of Decay 2
- The Elder Scrolls Online
One of the reasons why a new tier in the Game Pass is likely is the fact that Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, is looking to make Microsoft’s Game Pass even more accessible to a wider range of players, as reported by The Information which has spoken to several individuals who have directly talked to Sharma in the recent Game Developers Conference that took place in San Francisco earlier this month.
Reportedly, she aims to “make future consoles and products like Game Pass more enticing to a broader range of customers” which possibly includes the company’s plans of “revamping pricing models to offer lower-priced tiers.”
But at the same time, it’s also kind of odd since several developers and industry veterans have previously spoken out against the overall impact of these services on the industry at large. While the subscription services are undoubtedly profitable for companies like Microsoft and Netflix, they also result in the developers losing out on profit which is not what should be in the industry, in any shape or form.
