Still in the Fog is a new horror game for PC that is heavily inspired in the Silent Hill series. The trailer showcases some tense atmospheres and the background wrong looks cool, however, I’m not excited for the voices that seem to obviously be “AI” generated, there’s no direction and even some random voice actor could do much better than this. Honestly, I don’t think this game needs voices as it just makes the experience even less scary for many, the idea is to let psychological horror slowly consume you until you break under the pressure of something small happening.
Still in the Fog could become good
This project is made by a single person, but they shouldn’t be using “AI” to tackle it, one has to keep in mind that the Steam store page for this game has no “AI” disclosure which means its pretty much illegal for the project to be there. If this were some personal project for the developer himself, it would be nice to keep it to himself but under this state I’m not sure the game will be successful due to obvious reasons. I want to believe that all of the things shown in the trailer regarding voices are preliminary material.
Hopefully Still in the Fog can find real human voices to make the game feel better, the developer can hire someone who can take the task of voicing the characters, it shouldn’t even be that expensive and it would certainly both help the game and creators behind it. But I can already see that this one will just drown deep in the sea of games to never be noticed again. If the developer behind wants to fix this, they should definitely get someone to voice the characters. Maybe this can help Still in the Fog receive a push.
