Stellar Blade Studio Increases Focus on Self-Publishing Capabilities

Stellar Blade

One of the biggest drawbacks in the videogame industry, similar to pretty much all other industries out there, is the issue of publishing which in the past, has resulted in the developers making far less money than what they should with most of the profits going to the publisher instead. And that’s why many studios seek self publishing where they could receive a fair amount of the overall profit for themselves. Now Shift Up, the publisher for 2024’s Stellar Blade is also looking to self-publish their future projects in an effort to “support internally developed titles across console and PC platforms.”

The studio has also made several job listings including “Communications Manager,” “Creative Lead,” and “Marketing Manager” with at least five years of experience in the videogame industry. The Stellar Blade developer also wants a candidate who has prior experience in self-publishing, while also stating that those passionate with videogames and those who have secured the platinum trophy in Stellar Blade will be among the preferred ones.

Stellar Blade was one of 2024’s best action adventure releases that also came out on the PC last year and went on to earn the title of the best-selling PlayStation exclusive on PC, surpassing other AAA heavyweights such as Marvel’s Spider-Man (both 1 and 2), God of War, Ghost of Tshushima and more. Stellar Blade’s staggering player counts on the PC also officially cemented the game as the highest selling Playstation port ever, which is a mighty impressive feat especially considering the games it outperformed and how little hype it had compared to the others.

Stellar Blade’s PC version also came with a range of bonus additions such as unlocked framerate, AI upscaling via Nvidia’s DLSS 4 and AMD’s FSR 3, both Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, ultrawide display supports, higher resolution environment textures, and DualSense support for haptic feedback and trigger effects. The game also has a bonus Boss battle in the PC version, along with 25 new in-game outfits for the main character. The PC port of Stellar Blade has also received 3 New Epilogues at the end of September which reveal the fates of the main characters in the game.
