In a shocking turn of events that’s sure to send shockwaves throughout the industry, Sony has decided to no longer release any more of their platform’s single-player based Playstation exclusive titles on PC which means if you were waiting for Ghost of Yotei to come out on the PC sometimes in the near future, there’s going to be bad news for you. Same goes for Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine that’s scheduled to release in September and no doubt there’s a lot of gamers waiting to play it on launch day but sadly, it seems that the only way to play those titles from now on would be to buy a PS5 instead.
Sony’s move to not release any more of their single-player-focused titles on the PC is sure to extend on the Xbox systems as well which means the Sony exclusives will stay true to their name from now on.
In a literally game-changing report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier: “Sony Group Corp. no longer plans to release its big PlayStation 5 games on PC.”
Moreover, Screier also confirms that “in recent weeks, PlayStation scrapped plans to bring Ghost of Yotei and other internally developed games to PC.” This will certainly change the current gaming landscape as we knew it as franchises like Forza Horizon, Insomniac’s Marvel titles, God of War and more have enjoyed a great run on the PC alongside their native platform. However, Sony’s live-service games like Helldivers 2 would continue to remain on PC cause they depend on having a large player base which wouldn’t be possible on a single platform for obvious reasons.
Sony is yet to announce this officially so there may still be hope for their lineup of 2026 to find their way on the PC at least. Although both Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Kena: Scars of Kosmora are reportedly safe cause they were already confirmed to release on the PC platform.
Sounds like an end of an era in more ways than one if Sony actually moves ahead in this direction.
