Saudi Arabia owns 10% of Capcom in recent surprise buyout

Capcom has succumbed to the forces of the Middle East, at least that’s what I’m feeling based on current events. Whenever buyouts like this happens, quality of games coming from the company have a massive decline, such as what happened with current SNK games. Nobody wants to deal with Saudi Arabia’s outlandish decisions, such as adding Cristiano Ronaldo or more real people into the game for their own amusement, these businessmen have 0 understanding of art itself. The worst part is that the latest Fatal Fury could have been an amazing game, if it wasn’t for the fact that the buyouts even happened, shame on SNK.

Saudi Arabia goes for Capcom

And it seems to be aiming for the throat, 10% might look like nothing but it will slowly climb at a steady rate, this makes me worry for unique series like Ace Attorney and Mega Man, I really fear that those ones might stop being a thing thanks to this buyout. There’s many more series to take into consideration, but out of all the ones I care about both of those matter. Do not expect much quality coming in the future if the Saudi money keeps flooding Capcom’s headquarters, this takeover is often a signal to quality decline.

Gamers from marginalized groups are also voicing their concerns, saying that the involvement of Saudi Arabia does not make them feel safe so you should actually be worried cause they might be coming for you. Each time a takeover happens, we can expect something like what happened with SNK to happen yet again, I cannot wait to see nonsensical cameos of real controversial people in games that never needed them. Alas, this is the gaming world now, rife with corruption, bribery, and a ton of dirty businesses at the expense of quality and future Mega Man titles from Capcom.
