The newly released Resident Evil Requiem has proven itself to be another surefire critical and commercial hit from Capcom as the action-horror title has already zoomed past 5 million sales units in just five days since it’s release. Publisher Capcom has officially confirmed Resident Evil Requiem’s sales milestone in a press release that took place after a massively successful launch weekend for the game. Also, Resident Evil Requiem has had the biggest launch in the long running series with the game reaching 5 million sales faster than Resident Evil Village and both Resident Evil 2 and 4 Remakes.
In the recent press release, Capcom highlighted some of the major accomplishments of Resident Evil Requiem with the sheer photorealism the devs have achieved in the game, thanks to their cutting edge custom RE Engine technology which has powered the experience. While Requiem is certainly a visual stunner in more ways than one, it’s ultimately the gameplay that features a great mix of both survival horror and satisfying action segments (centered respectively on FBI rookie Grace Ashcroft and long time series protagonist Leon) that have made the whole experience so memorable and worthwhile.
Of course the sales numbers are only expected to grow even further from here which means Requiem could very well end up being the highest grossing title in the series as we move further into 2026.

Resident Evil Requiem has also garnered a sky-high score of 9.5 from players in Metacritic, which is among one of the highest rated videogames of all time and is on par with last year’s Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
In other news of the Resident Evil series, the Remake of the first game in the franchise has also reportedly entered full production.
