Tons of Fortnite game modes are being taken down in 2026

Fortnite is dying, no really its actually happening, by removing games modes from the equation what happens is that people have less options to choose from. Fortnite’s big forte was the fact that one could play the game in many ways, so it does feel counter intuitive to remove what makes your game good in the first place, but that does not matter for Epic Games. Not only they have made the price of V-Bucks more expensive by lowering the quantity you get from buying bundles, but they also laid off people despite their earnings being as high as ever.

Fortnite is more than dead

Fortnite is this big nonsensical behemoth that represents the death of gaming in a way, its colorful corporate memphis like 3D feels as if you were playing some sort of advertisement instead of an actual game. And honestly, this game is a big advertisement board for pop culture in general perhaps one of the biggest crossovers in gaming if we leave Smash Bros aside. It was already a corpse when it was born, and it will only keep getting worse as more chapters keep dropping, but the average gamer does not care or see this.

Regardless, for those who are still playing the modes that are being removed are pretty big, Ballistic, Rocket Racing, and Festival Battle Stage are coming down, with more cuts on the horizon. This might be because they people that they fired from Epic Games was involved with developed gameplay modes for Fortnite, so these are being sunset. It is very sad to see the collapse of workers that actually cared about what they were doing, despite the fact that the thing that Fortnite is feels more like an antithesis to humanity and more of a representation of late stage Capitalism’s take in creativity.
