The upcoming Crimson Desert, which is scheduled for worldwide release on March 19 with it’s review embargo being lifted on March 18, seems to be one of the most technically impressive and ambitious titles in recent times. But there’s also a number of players who are voicing skepticism towards the game’s actual quality on social media, accusing developer Pearl Abyss of not showcasing any console footage of Crimson Desert during all this time.
The accusations are potentially alarming, and reeks of deceptive marketing where a game shows off only a select version of itself that’s not at all representative of how it’s going to look and run on a large part of the systems available for gaming today.
But now Pearl Abyss’ PR and Marketing Director Will Powers have responded on X/Twitter, stating that they aren’t hiding anything at all:
“We’re not hiding anything, and I’m sick of having to repeat myself. I’ve repeated 100s of times that we’ll reveal things ahead of launch to give people adequate time to still preorder the game for themselves. We’re saying this openly… Let us cook? Please and thank you.”
The accusations directed towards Crimson Desert come from the fact that despite using heavy Ray Tracing features, the open world title is shown to be running exceptionally well which is a rarity these days, especially on the consoles. But it could also be due to the game’s high level of optimization that can really make a lot of difference in terms of it looking and running amazingly well.
Also, the upcoming Crimson Desert’s world may just be the biggest to have ever come out of gaming, on this side of GTA 6, of course. But it’s significantly larger than the world we saw in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 and about twice as big as Bethesda’s Skyrim, which is a mighty impressive feat on many accounts.
Crimson Desert’s official PC system requirements have been revealed couple days ago so check out what you’ll need to run the game at both minimum and recommended quality settings.
Crimson Desert is slated to be released on 19 March 2026 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows and Mac OS.
