Ubisoft Boss Confirms Two New Far Cry Titles are In-Development Along with Several Assassin’s Creed Games

Despite the current restructuring process that’s taking place across different studios under the publisher, Ubisoft’s slate of upcoming titles are pretty stacked as Co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that there are two new Far Cry titles and multiple Assassin’s Creed games that are currently in development. In a recent interview with Variety, the CEO spoke on the upcoming projects at Ubisoft including two of it’s most flagship franchises:

“On Far Cry, anticipation is high, and we currently have two very promising projects in development,” Guillemot stated, without revealing anything further.

He also added that there are “several titles” in the Assassin’s Creed franchise that are at works, ranging from both single player and multiplayer experiences.

It has been previously known that the in-development Far Cry titles are codenamed ‘Blackbird’ and ‘Maverick’ with Blackbird possibly being the next mainline entry in the franchise while Maverick being perhaps a spin-off experience. Also, as the last entry in the series which is Far Cry 6, was not received as highly as the publisher was likely hoping for, the devs certainly have much to reinvent and innovate to make sure that the next title in the series manages to surpass Far Cry 6 in all the right ways.

The CEO also commented on the current direction of the company and touched on some of the concerns that many are having:

“Ubisoft was created as a family company, and our strong heritage helps us take a long-term view, prioritizing sustainable growth, creative ambition, and continuity over short-term cycles,” adding that “This perspective guides our decisions and helps us build franchises, teams, and strategies that endure for decades.

“I strongly believe that Christophe Derennes and Charlie are the right leaders as Co-CEOs of Vantage Studios. They bring complementary strengths and experience that make them well-suited for the role. Their appointment was based on their skills, track record, and fit for the role.”
