The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is simply one of the few unmissable videogame experiences that deserves revisiting time and again and the Unreal Engine 5 powered Remaster not only brought the original game to the sky high technical standards of 2025, but also polished many of it’s core gameplay aspects to a level that wasn’t in the original release. This resulted in a game that not only looked better but also played better than it’s base version, just like a great remaster should be.
And now you can enjoy the modernized version of the classic Oblivion on-the-go as the Oblivion Remastered has been confirmed to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, as announced in the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase this week. However, unlike both Fallout 4 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Oblivion Remastered for the Switch 2 hasn’t been given an actual release date yet but is pretty much confirmed to release sometimes in 2026.
However as the overall hardware specifications of the Switch 2 is more limited than on the PC or the current-gen consoles, it may seem at first that Oblivion Remastered just won’t look as glorious on the handheld compared to it’s counterparts. But coupled with the Switch 2’s smaller screen (which may yield greater or at least similar level of pixel density on 1080p) and the upscaling technology available in the console, the game can still look stellar for a handheld title.
The Oblivion Remaster went on to become an unprecedented success in every way as the game was confirmed to reach a staggering 9 million players in the span of just 3 months after release, making it one of the biggest hits of last year. And as it’s now announced to release on the Switch 2 as well, it will likely result in way more player counts and sales numbers which is pretty great.
