Microsoft keeps blundering very hard with their current decisions, as they have decided to attack Allumeria despite being a harmless indie game made with voxels that is more similar to Terraria than it is to Minecraft. The fact that Microsoft has done this despite being so in favor of generative “AI” is extremely hypocritical, as “AI” infringes upon the copyrights of everyone, even you have access to copyright itself as a right yet there’s people out there trying to take it down to cement “AI” as something legal. Of course, every bit of the case against Allumeria was generated via “AI”, so hypocrisy runs deeper.
A Microsoft Mistake
Yet another one in the pile of errors from Microsoft, it seems that they can’t still realize that the only thing they must do is fix Windows to become usable to the average customer. Computers often become useless once you open up Windows, but Linux is out there making the experience more bearable for everyone. Leaving that aside, what Microsoft did against the indie developer, Unomelon, is seriously disgusting, if they are going to break the copyright law at least they should abide by the standards of criminals instead of taking advantage of it.
The current legal system for video games feels much like a wild west, but this shouldn’t demoralize people on making their own games. There’s services like Itch.io where you can actually upload your games and start making money off them free of charge, although one has to keep into consideration the ongoing censorship wars that are currently happening. This means that depending on the game you make you may or may not get paid for your efforts because they want to silence differing opinions on controversial matters. Companies aren’t our friends, and Microsoft is in fact an enemy of the customer itself.
