Insomniac’s Spider-Man Games ‘Not Likely’ To Arrive on Xbox

Marvel’s Spider-Man series of titles which includes Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and 2023’s Spider-Man 2 are some of the most acclaimed superhero titles this side of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series of games. Combining a simple, intuitive and reactive combat system with a massively detailed rendition of New York and a fairly original and engaging narrative, the Spider-Man games have managed to win the hearts and minds of not just the fans of the iconic Marvel character but also of the overall gaming community in many ways.

While the Spider-Man games were exclusively released on the Playstation 5 at the time of their launch, they were also ported to the PC platform later with generally positive results. But as to whether the games would ever see a release on Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S, according to developer Insomniac, the answer is, as they recently posted on their Twitter/X account: “Not likely.” So sadly, there’s not much chance of those highly popular and acclaimed titles to ever release on the Xbox, at least not for the foreseeable future.

Now even though the Spider-Man titles were made available to the PC, the most recent Spider-Man 2 which was released last year on the platform, is actually one of the most poorly optimized PC ports in recent years and doesn’t run as it should even on sufficiently high end systems. And although the port received a total of 7 patches, it still needs a fairly large amount of work as Spider-Man 2 on PC is still rife with lots of technical and performance problems. And to make matters even worse, it seems there won’t be any more patches for the game either.

Also, with Insomniac’s Wolverine set to release this year and with the inevitable Spider-Man 3 being possibly the next big title from the developer, the older Spider-Man titles may remain firmly limited to only the two platforms. Another point being that if the games were indeed planned to come out on the Xbox, it wouldn’t have taken so long for an official announcement as the first Spider-Man has turned about 6 years old in 2026.
