It seems Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine will see another highly popular Marvel character in videogame form as the developers have posted a small tease in their official twitter/X account, which reads: “‘Claws’? What’s that, some kind of fancy lawyer lingo?”
Now besides the really intelligent pun on Wolverine’s iconic Adamantium blades, most Marvel fans and comic book readers can easily guess the hint given in the sentence, especially the ‘lawyer’ part which clearly points to none other than Daredevil, also known as Matt Murdock in the same universe. This clever hint most likely teases an appearance of Daredevil, who is another important character in the Marvel universe and basically in the same league of heroes such as Wolverine and Spider-Man and could easily be included in the list of characters of the upcoming title.
There have also been multiple references of Daredevil existing in Insomniac’s universe in both Spider-Man games–Nelson & Murdock’s office was present back in Spider-Man 1 and the sign on their office was replaced by an eviction notice in Spider-Man 2 and a post-launch patch added it back in. So there’s always a chance for Daredevil to finally appear in one of the Insomniac titles and seems we may finally see him in the upcoming Wolverine which should be interesting in more ways than one cause there haven’t been much partnership between both characters in and outside of comics, so far.
After the phenomenal success of Marvel’s Spider Man and Spider Man 2, Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game has garnered a ton of anticipation and hype cause just like Spider Man, Wolverine can also be a driver for amazing gameplay which could easily result in a great game, especially in the capable hands of Insomniac. The way Insomniac took Spider-Man and pretty much reinvented him up to the towering standards of current-gen AAA gaming, from both technical and mechanical standpoints, it sure looks like they could pull off the same with Wolverine as well, especially after the first teaser which looks pretty awesome and true to the iconic Marvel character.
