Hypersonic GP looks amazing, and its filled to the brim with references to Neo Tokyo: The Running Man, which is quite a neat way to pay respect to the legacy of that specific part of the film anthology. The trailer of this PC game is filled with tons of action and accompanied by some excellent soundtrack that can be found in the description, and it truly makes me remember of the good old days when F-Zero was a thing that Nintendo cared about. The company behind this is a blend of both Japanese and French workers, and it seems to be based in Kyoto, the team has always cared about graphic design for many projects.
Hypersonic GP blasts off
We don’t really know when it will come out, as the game might still be in development for quite a while, but I have a hunch that this will be releasing sooner or later in 2026. If it doesn’t, we should worry, and in fact we should be happy because that means the team cares about making the game in the first place. The lack of anything new related to F-Zero has made indie studios take the initiative, and the results I’m seeing look very favorable for the Hover Racing genre. Hypersonic GP might be what we need to start a resurrection.
While some of the cars and things are perhaps too close to F-Zero, considering that we really aren’t getting any new game for that series, this should be a wake up call for Nintendo to release a new game and to also not sue the people behind this one. There’s clearly a ton of love put behind Hypersonic GP, and even the HUD elements are animated and based on certain references for the aforementioned anthology movie. I think you should really wishlist Hypersonic GP.
