It was previously unveiled that Dragon Ball Age 1000 is an upcoming videogame based on the iconic franchise and while it was unknown as to what genre it would be but now it’s been revealed that it’s actually the next title in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series, which certainly makes sense in a lot of ways. Originally spotted online by multiple users when Bandai Namco Southeast Asia had placed their Age 1000 Reveal trailer in a promptly deleted playlist that said “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.”
So this effectively sets up Xenoverse 3 as the next big game in the series which pretty much aligns with a lot of what was revealed in the trailer for Age 1000–first off, the new unnamed character is one of the recurring narrative features of the Dragon Ball Xenoverse titles as both games have starred a completely new protagonist (that the player gets to create, of course) not seen anywhere in the anime or any past games. It’s one of the charms of the unique, action-RPG take on the Dragon Ball Universe that has managed to succeed with players in more ways than one.
Then, there’s also the timing–the last Xenoverse title which was highly successful, came out around a decade ago which certainly makes another game in the series a welcome possibility. However, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 still has some life left in it as the fourth and last chapter in it’s Future Saga is yet to be released so Xenoverse 3 can certainly take it’s sweet time.
The development of Age 1000 was started several years ago with character designs made by the late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama himself and according to it’s short teaser, the game will take place several centuries into the future from the current timelines of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. As a premise for Xenoverse 3, this is definitely exciting for both fans and players alike as it opens lots of new possibilities to explore in the franchise.
