Arc System Works Confirms Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Release Date and Initial X-Men Roster

Arc System Works officially broke its silence during Sony’s latest PlayStation State of Play, confirming that the highly anticipated fighter, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, is set for a 2026 launch. Following a series of closed beta tests throughout 2025 that left the competitive community eager for more, the developer finally provided a concrete window for when fans can get their hands on the full experience. The announcement also highlighted the inclusion of four iconic X-Men, a move that clarifies the “teams” dynamic that has been the subject of much speculation during the game’s development cycle.

The news arrived alongside a subtle update to the game’s official Steam page, which may have jumped the gun on several key technical and structural details. According to the updated listing, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature a launch roster of 20 heroes. For those looking toward the competitive online landscape, the game is set to support massive 64-player online lobbies, signaling a shift toward a more social, hub-based multiplayer environment. However, the listing also confirms that PC players will be required to link a PSN account to access these features, a requirement that has become a standard, if divisive, staple for Sony’s recent PC ports.

As a new threat looms over Earth, the X-Men are the first to answer the call to defend our planet!

On the gameplay side, the new trailer and page updates shed light on the single-player offerings, which are designed to go beyond simple arcade ladders. The game will include a dedicated mode providing a deep dive into the various superhero teams within the roster, allowing players to explore the narrative and mechanical synergies between characters. This focus on team dynamics suggests that Arc System Works is leaning into the collaborative nature of the Marvel Universe, rewarding players who master specific groupings of heroes rather than just individual fighters.

While the February 12 reveal was intended to be the primary source of information, this secondary influx of data from digital storefronts has painted a much clearer picture of what to expect in 2026. Between the confirmed X-Men presence and the technical specifications for the online infrastructure, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is positioning itself as a cornerstone of the next year’s fighting game calendar. With the launch roster now largely accounted for, the focus shifts to how these 20 heroes will balance against one another in Arc System Works’ signature high-octane style.
