According to sources, Wolfenstein 3 is in development for PC and its spearheaded by the people who did this new generation of Wolfenstein games, MachineGames. This is reassuring because that means we will get some quality shooting experiences alongside the chance to kick more Nazi butt, I wonder what narrative twists they will pull of with this one. Wolfenstein was very popular back in the early days of shooters, and it was one of the most important releases that helped popularize the genre alongside games like DOOM. Despite being controversial due to violence, it was due to that the game grew to be popular aside from being good.

We might not get this one in 2026 however, perhaps we might not even get it in 2027 depending on how things go with the development cycle, we are currently on a terrible place to be when it comes to PC gaming thanks to the huge hardware shortage. “AI” companies are gobbling up all the resources making them become more expensive and the results produced by that technology, if we can even call it that, are not surprising or even worth it. Some years ago they screamed that the world would be fully automated in 2026, but we only get failure after failure, bankruptcy after bankruptcy of this so called companies.
Wolfenstein 3 might not be a next generation game thanks to all of this constraints that are happening, so we might get more of a taste from 2017 depending on how the team decides to implement stuff. There has been some developers admitting that thanks to this they will optimize games even if they don’t want to, but it seems that the crucial strategy for this highway robbery era is to just make stuff for older systems instead. Old is new, and I feel like Wolfenstein 3 might be more old goodness coming our way.
