Void Salvage is a new indie game in the market and you can play it for free on Itch.io if you so desire, while the game is still in development people can already play the build that exists, as it does feel like a complete game. The developer behind it seems to have experience in the field as they have released some games before such as Reigning Cats which can also be played on the same platform. XO-Planets is another game they released on Itch and also on Steam for anyone curious on what to expect. If you are interested you can play all of these games for free.
Void Salvage is neat
Adding more roguelites to the mix might feel like a very common thing to do in the indie space, but we can’t really fault people for having fun with procedural generation, it is neat to have games like that setup and they lean into giving players tons of hours worth of gameplay and runs. While some might believe that procedural generation might be a concession of bad game design, I personally think that its just another genre of game that thrives in its own sort of unique offerings that other games can’t.
Void Salvage has us trying to scavenge materials and resources to upgrade our ship, and fighting hordes of enemies that will get progressively harder as we advance from node to node. The quirk here is that this is an auto battler, so we just need to focus primarily on the strategy elements provided by it rather than on trying to control the ship. Provided that difficulty is balanced to account this fact, Void Salvage can be a very neat game that will defy our strategic senses. If you are interested, you can play it for free and also give suggestions to the developer if they allow.
