Ubisoft did something unexpected, as it happens to cancel one of their biggest projects out there, this surprised many players who were expecting something after waiting for more than 5 years. People have been expecting this game for an entire generation but it seems that nothing will ever come out from this, as Ubisoft was interested in wasting more money on things that don’t really matter, like trying to keep Assassin’s Creed afloat even if its unrelated to Assassin’s Creed at all. Hopefully a ton of these licenses go into better hands that actually respect them instead of being in the hands of soulless executives.
Ubisoft cancels important games
Among all of the games cancelled and delayed, there’s some unnamed titles and also a mobile game, which honestly its not a big loss for gamers because it was obvious the mobile game was going to be ridden with microtransactions and slop. I’m still rather curious for the other unnamed games, perhaps it was more Rayman things and we are actually missing out on a potential revival. Yet we aren’t sure, the biggest one that hurt the most was Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake, and despite being a remake it could have been good.
Regardless, all of this shows that no company is actually too big to fall, and when you dabble too much on NFTs and “AI” the only thing that happens is that your whole corporate structure will remain like a fad of the past. The only real winners in the gaming market are those who are willing to set trends and create new things, and most of the times these happen to be indie developers who bring us some amazing games that are full of risk and innovation. As the triple A side continues to drown on soulless remakes like Ubisoft, more indie groups keep popping up.
