It seems CD Projekt RED could take players into a never before seen location in the world of The Witcher 3 pretty soon as the rumored new expansion pack may take place in a desert-like, “Dune-Styled” location which will make getting back into the game after all these years, all the more worthwhile. The rumored new location in Witcher 3 could also be home to whole new exotic flora and fauna, plus a new culture which will in turn enrich the in-game lore even more.
In The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC, the Manticore School which is located somewhere in the Zerrikanian desert, has been mentioned several times and has been referenced by many in-game characters as well. Currently, there’s also speculation that Ciri, who is set to be the main protagonist for The Witcher 4, will undergo her trials to become a Witcher in the new desert location before the events of the next game.
The rumored new expansion for The Witcher 3 may be released in May 2026 and even if it doesn’t, it will probably launch sometimes before the second half of this year, before all the new trailers and other promotional videos for GTA 6 starts to hit the internet cause make no mistake, as big as The Witcher 3 or any other acclaimed title is, this is going to be the year of the next GTA.
The Witcher 3 was confirmed to reach 50 Million sold units in 2023 which means the decade old RPG had managed to move 10 Million additional copies in the past two years, which is extremely impressive and rare for a title that originally came out back in 2015.
In other news of the venerable RPG series, it’s been confirmed that The Witcher 4 won’t be releasing this year and will be part of a new trilogy that will be released in a span of 6 years.
