As some people have been saying since the early days of Hytale, streaming this game would be the future. Hytale is becoming one of the most popular games of 2026 right as the year kicks off, attracting around 420.000 viewers in just a few days, a feat not many games can pull off these days. For something that is similar to Minecraft but there is focus on some RPG elements and exploration, this is quite the unexpected success story for many yet if you know the story behind the troubled development that Hytale had to deal with it all makes sense.
Hytale is highly popular
This game was in severe development hell for years, I still remember when it was something novel around a decade ago but it never went towards anything. It passed through many hands such as the ones from Riot Games and after many years it has now rightfully returned to the hands of the original developers. The people involved with this game are huge fans of Minecraft who also happen to run the highly popular Hypixel server, hence the studio name. There is a ton of things that make it different to Minecraft, the gameplay loop is clearly one of those.
People should understand that we can like both of these games and that there shouldn’t be any sort of confrontation in the fandom, as doing this will only end up harming both games in the long run. While there is a focus on construction and mod making in both, Hytale is clearly more oriented towards the boss encounters and many other RPG mechanics. The worlds are procedurally generated, which means that each play through you do will be fully unique, and while this game is still in early access it holds a huge and brilliant future ahead thanks to this massive boost in popularity.
