Cairn just got released recently and it is a big success, a patch recently dropped fixing some issues with the game that weren’t that big but it shows that the developers really care about doing a good game in the first place. Hotfixes like this are something neat to receive, especially around the time the game has launched. This will only make Cairn become more and more stable as things keep moving forward, as for the game I believe it looks gorgeous and for those who enjoy titles like Peak this one is a game you must get.
Cairn gets better
Optimization seems to be a forgotten art in this day and age due to the powerful hardware some people have access to, it has become the norm that the majority of games simply won’t run on a regular PC. This has priced out many people from the hobby, causing growing discontent among gamers for many years when things used to be more affordable. Nowadays things have gotten worse thanks to “AI”, as the hardware crisis continues consuming the whole market for something that nobody wants, using up resources on things nobody asked for.
RAM is unattainable and constitutes half of what PCs used to cost, which is something crazy but it can get worse in certain parts of the world too. This is a terrible era to be a gamer, we have to deal with the pressure of finding games that are entirely made with assets created by real people, expensive and unobtainable PC parts, and the current enshittification of media that keeps consuming everything from TV shows to video games. It almost feels as if relying on indie games such as Cairn is the best choice at the moment. When creative indies stop being abundant, the huge pile of retro gaming awaits us.
