Tomba 2‘s PC port was lazy, the decision to lock us into the Japanese soundtrack was a baffling one considering we could hear both in the sound player mode, which meant the songs were in the game. There’s way better solutions to play Tomba 2 on PC, for example emulating it and ripping a copy of your own original disc, there’s many tutorial videos on how to do this. If you really want to go and play it with this version of some reason, at least you will be able to enjoy it how it was kinda meant to be enjoyed. Regardless, even with this fix there’s many things to keep fixing.
Tomba 2 gets a bit better on PC
The promises of secret development material are still unfulfilled, perhaps it was merely some marketing buzzwords to get you to buy this version, but I still don’t see them unless they need some specific unlock condition. I really don’t like how they upscaled the game and the filters to simulate CRT genuinely hurt to look at, I know its very hard to get this right but they should put a bit more effort into that. The voice acting unfortunately remains pretty bad, but we can at least try to switch to the Japanese version of the game if we desire.
The Spanish version for some reason just abruptly cuts its awful dubbing with some lines into the beginning of the game, and I believe it might be for the better. Tomba 2 is a better game when you play it via emulation, and perhaps it gets even better when you are just playing it on original hardware how it was meant to be. CRTs help a lot to preserve the original visuals of these games, a thing that is lost with modern conversions and that none managed to solve.
