Shiro Games workers are on strike, more than 40% of the working force of that studio are asking for better work place conditions and realistic deadlines. As always the game industry is rife with terrible treatment of its workforce, including programmers and artists who are exploited to rush products forward. Dune Spice Wars has been ruined thanks to the crunch culture on the company and there’s a ton of cut content for that game due to the fact they had no time to make it. DLC for Wartales is currently being compromised too and no proper testing procedures are being made.
Shiro Games needs to stop the abuse
Workers are the lifeblood of every company, if you have them on good condition they can do amazing things for you and sometimes even go further beyond depending on how good you treat them. Currently on this decade and even before workers have been subject to abusive practices and lack of consideration on a bigger scale and Shiro Games has been a part of this issue for very long. To solve this a strike is needed to protest for your rights and the people participating on it are totally justified when it comes to denouncing the abuse of Shiro Games.
According to the workers: “Every December, as delays from impractical production schedules are piling up, workers are forced to rush DLC releases, with with cut content and incomplete testing. This disastrous management drains workers’ morale and players’ trust.” It is clear that the company does this in this month to rush for stuff on crucial dates, but due to this quality is disastrous and workers are starting to feel more than burnout on the projects they were working on. If no quality is taken into consideration, then don’t expect that players should buy the games, Shiro Games needs to fix their crunch issue right now.
