It was earlier reported that the upcoming remake of the 2003 classic Prince of Persia: Sands of Time has a strong chance of being showcased at The Game Awards show which will take place on December 11, but now the official account for the game has confirmed that it won’t be on the show at all.
“Sorry to disappoint, but can confirm Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t be at TGA this year”, the post doesn’t provide any further information as to when we can actually get a glimpse of the upcoming title so it may be assumed that the first official reveal could be coming later than sooner.
But then, as the release date of the game was earlier speculated to be sometimes in January 2026, it may be get pushed further back next year cause we aren’t getting a first official look at the remake this year and it seems highly unlikely that Ubisoft will skip a showcase or reveal altogether and sort of shadow drop the game in the near future. So yes, the reveal of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake will most probably still happen though at a later date which may also result in the actual release window to be at a further point in next year.
With a whole suite of inventive gameplay mechanics such as it’s wall-running parkour, fun and replayable combat involving exciting abilities like rewinding and slowing down Time, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remains a cherished trip down memory lane for everyone who had played it back in the day. And that’s why, the upcoming remake of the iconic title is more than worthwhile whether you have played the original or not.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake was first announced in 2020 and went through a tricky development cycle where it’s initial release date of January 2021 got pushed to March 2021 and was later delayed multiple times with the game now finally expected to come out early next year. The remake is expected to feature a more realistic approach towards the gameplay of the original including whole new mechanics for both combat and parkour, overhauled graphics (obviously), new animations and more.
