Path of Exile 2 might not have every class available since the 1.0 PC release, according to the director of the game. Balancing is tough, and sometimes you have to make the right decision and cut some things out to work on them for later. A big advantage of live service games is the fact that you can keep updating them as long as you want to run the game as a developer, so that means if someone ever gets the source code, they can run a private instance of the game. While not all classes might be there, there is still a ton of content to explore in Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 is coming soon
The director mentions that “I would ideally want to have all of the classes out, but I sort of suspect at this point that it’s likely we won’t have all of them.” This is tied to concerns around balancing since people can play the game and pay to beta test it. Concerns have arisen around multiple classes that feel over tuned, mostly spell casting related classes that can burst through the game easily. While the decision to lock beta testing behind a pay wall is controversial, many people seem to still dip into the game regardless.
Path of Exile 2 might be one of the most important Diablo-like releases in current days, and depending on its success there will be waves of clones that may want to imitate it. Once version 1.0 rolls out the game will become free to play, so I advise players to hold back because there really is no benefit on paying to do the work of beta testing. Just wait some more weeks and things will be ready before you know it, you can still play Path of Exile 1 to catch up on lore.
