Ontos might end up becoming one of the best games in 2026 for the horror category. This new PC game really gives some Matrix vibes when it comes to horror and I’m genuinely curious to see what kind of things they come up with. Frictional Games has always done some amazing titles, and I believe that they are the true masters of psychological horror on the indie space back when they released Penumbra. While they aren’t an indie studio anymore due to the sheer amount of money they got from Amnesia, they are still better than the average triple A developer.
Ontos has been revealed
The Game Awards was kind of a disappointment when it came to the awards itself. While Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is an amazing turn based RPG, it really didn’t deserve to get all the awards it did. Regardless, announcements such as Mega Man Dual Override and Ontos are between the most interesting things available. We can only hope that more things keep popping up, Capcom needs to work more on the image of the Blue Bomber and resurrect it entirely as it is running out of games to make compilations.
In the meanwhile we have Ontos, coming in 2026 this new horror game puts us in a Sci-fi world as we discover a conspiracy and multiple experiments going on in the Moon Hotel Samsara. Samsara is often associated with reincarnation, so perhaps this new game might touch upon some philosophical topics with a rather moody twist to them. On analysis most games made by this studio are rather sad, Amnesia being a good example of it, and Ontos is meant to be a spiritual successor to Soma which released way back in 2015. If you are interested in this new game, I believe it is time to wishlist it to help the developers out.
