Mega Man Dual Override has been announced at The Game Awards 2025, everyone thought that the Mega Man series was done for when the last game we received came in 2018 with Mega Man 11. Mega Man 12, or more exactly Mega Man Dual Override, is the 12th entry in the long running Mega Man classic series that started way back in 1987. Dropping in 2027, this new entry will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the series that made Capcom the company that is today. More surprises will be revealed as we wait for the game to release, so be sure to stay alert.
Mega Man Dual Override gives us hope
Announced for all main consoles including the first Switch and also on PC, Mega Man Dual Override seeks to reach to the vast majority of gamers out there. Capcom’s strategy is trying to expand upon the awareness of the brand and the decision behind the title of this game is clear. Instead of calling it Mega Man 12, Capcom decides to go with Mega Man Dual Override instead to get more players into it and not confuse them with sequel numbers. The good thing about the classic series is that no one is obligated to play them in order, but it does help with context.
Near the end of the amazing reveal trailer, which was announced with an orchestration of Wily’s Theme from Mega Man 2, we can hear a faint whistle that is familiar for any fan of the series. Protoman is back to amend his unexplained absence in 11, and perhaps this can hint to a probable inclusion of a cooperative mode. Mega Man 10 was originally meant to have a cooperative mode between Mega Man and Proto Man, but that got scrapped due to Capcom not wanting to get help from Inti Creates.
