Marvel Rivals is just gonna become a bigger game, for those who were wondering how it has been faring, let’s say that a ton of people don’t seem that interested in it anymore. However, NetEase plans to make some big changes in 2026 that aim at revitalizing the experience of this once popular live service title. The market is overcrowded by games of this kind unfortunately, and it seems that things will get harder for live service as a whole as things move on. There seems to be plans to rebalance and rework characters and there seems to be new game modes on the pipeline.
Marvel Rivals might revive
We still have to remember that the people who helped make Marvel Rivals have been ousted by NetEase, so if you actually care about supporting creators you shouldn’t be playing this game at all. There’s plenty of live services out there and all of them are quite poor and not even worth your time if you ask me, at the same time there’s plenty of indie titles in the market, and uncleared backlogs to tackle. People really should go back to their backlogs because this era of gaming is sure to be quite boring and repetitive.
It wouldn’t be weird if Marvel Rivals was using “AI” generated assets in some way following the removal of the original developers by NetEase, we know companies are often very scummy and tend to do this. Supporting live service games in big 2025, almost bordering 2026 seems like something old fashioned that people should stop doing. If you are curious for some indie games, Kingdoms of the Dump is one that people should try out, there’s tons of creative people behind these games, and we really need to keep in mind games that are optimized. We might be forced into cloud based gaming very soon.
